Read until you sleep

Quite literally, most nights, I do read until I can no longer keep my eyes open. I long to keep turning pages but I physically can’t. And there is a good reason for this.

I’m only on chapter three of Matthew Walker’s ‘Why We Sleep’ and I’ve learned so much about why we spend a third of our lives in a horizontal, unconscious state.

Forget your five a day, regular exercise, Omega 3s, and probiotics; if you’re not providing an eight hour window for quality sleep every night, your body and mind will not heal, reset and function optimally the following morning.

So instead of watching that late night movie, or scrolling through your favourite social media, or, like me, getting to the end of the chapter, turn your light off and get some shut-eye. Your whole being will thank you for it.
